A NEW online store that will provide savvy sportsmen and women with the latest fitness and sporting gadgets has been launched from a base in Ely.
SportsGadgets.co.uk specialises in high-tech gadgets that link-up with smart phone and tablet PCs to help fitness fanatics and sportsmen improve fitness and performance, whilst on the move.
Among others, the site caters for cycling, running, fitness and golf, and also includes a range of articles, advice columns, stories, reviews and health tips.
The business is based in Cambridge Road, in Ely, and was launched by Chris Keaney; a gadget fanatic who is also passionate about all sports, in particular golf, and helping others learn the game.
Chris played competitive squash and volleyball and is now into jogging, gym and general fitness.
The launch team also includes business development director James Martin, a PGA golf professional, and project director Michele Martin, who competed in competitive gymnastics and now enjoys aerobics, cycling and hiking.
Chris said: “Britain now has one of the most inactive populations on earth. We find it incredible that this seems to be overlooked while experts come up with suggestions like ‘taxes on fizzy drinks’ as a possible solution for the UK’s obesity.
“Our aim is to instead make fitness fun for people. Smart phones have become an integral part of our lives, they’re incredibly sophisticated, so why not use them to analyse your golf swing or turn them into a powerful cycling computer?”
