PRESIDENT Rosemary Green welcomed members to the February meeting of Ely Northwold WI at the Old Dispensary in St Mary's Street on February 14. Birthday gifts were given to Ellen Jones and Pat Miles. The speaker for the evening was Lorraine Bucknell, from Isleham, who demonstrated the art of painting on glass. All the ladies were given greetings cards and invited to have a try, which they all enjoyed. Lorraine then judged the competition for a Christmas card montage, the winner being Rosemary Green and second Brenda Maton. Marie Shelton, a fund-raiser for Chernobyl Children Life Line came along to thank the ladies for their knitted garments, which will be sent to the children of Belarus. After refreshments, as it was Valentine's Day, Ellen Jones read a poem by Pam Ayres. Next month's meeting will be on March 14 at 7.15pm when the speaker will be a member of the staff from the Welney Wetlands. Visitors will be welcomed.
