Celebrations were the order of the day on Sunday, as the New Connexions Church in Ely celebrated its seventh birthday.

Reading from Psalm 8, Keith reminded us that as part of God’s creation, we are all stunning and amazing and his precious children. Russell led us in a time of prayer, followed by a time of worship.

Gordon Lowman brought God’s message to us, from Matthew 13:44-52. We were reminded that Jesus was teaching a new way to those who knew the Jewish way. God has new ‘treasures’ for us, as well as the old. We may need to bring the gospel up to date with relevance to modern life, but we should never lose the foundation it was written on. We thanked God that he is bringing us forward as a new church, with the old foundations of the Countess of Huntingdon churches.

The children looked at the setting up of the early Christian church in Acts, when Paul instructed them to be a fellowship and to share with each other.

As a church we shared fellowship with each other and visitors with a barbecue, chatting and song quizzes. Traditionally we had a beautiful birthday cake made by Joyce which was shared before leaving with our hearts (and tummies!) full.

We meet at St Mary’s School on Sundays at 10.30am and would love to welcome you to our services. See www.newconnexionschurch.org.uk for recorded sermons and more info.
