A FORD Mondeo car forced to take evasive action landed up in the ditch on the A142 Fordham by-pass, magistrates heard this week.
The accident happened when pensioner Paul Cornwall had been driving a Kia vehicle; he overtook an Alfa Romeo, and forced the oncoming Ford Mondeo to get out of his way.
The 67-year-old, of Henley Way, Ely, was fined 100 after admitting he drove without due care and attention on May 24. Five points were endorsed on his licence and he must pay 35 costs and a 15 surcharge.
Writing to the court, Cornwall said: I didn't know about the accident until a witness stopped me and told me what happened.
