AN Ely man has admitted to the rape of a 19-year-old woman as she walked home from a night out.
Samuel Jennings, of Stour Green, will be sentenced later this month for the attack in Cromwell Road in November last year.
The 21-year-old pleaded guilty at Cambridge Crown Court today (Thursday).
Detective inspector Kevin Vanterpool, who led the investigation, said: "I am pleased with today's guilty plea as it means Jennings' victim will not have to go through the ordeal of a trial.
"Jennings' horrific attack has caused pain, shock and distress - he is clearly a dangerous man."
He commended the victim for her bravery throughout the investigation and thanked the local community and British Transport Police for their assistance.
