Ely residents of all ages came together on Sunday to help clean up the litter in Ely city centre accompanied by Richard Hobbs, Mayor of Ely.
Thirty six people from scouts to councillors picked up their bags and litter pickers and made sure Ely was spotless and free of any rubbish.
It was a two hour project starting at 10am Sunday 22 and they worked their way up from the city centre to the railway station.
Cllr Hobbs said: “It was a very good turnout with great community spirit.
“If there are people out cleaning up the streets, others will see and hopefully then make sure everything goes in the bin. We’re putting pride back into the city.”
“If everyone cleaned their own area once or twice a week we’d manage to keep the litter down in Ely”
“I’d like to thank all of the volunteers, they were very cheerful demonstrated a great community spirit”
