Children and their parents had the opportunity to get involved with arts and crafts, and technology on the day. There were community makers showing people how to quilt, make friendship bracelets, and draw superheroes.

Community groups including The Ely Makers demonstrated how to set up and make items with 3-D printers, The Cambridge Science Centre ran hands-on craft activities focused on the Cosmos, the Ely and Littleport Time Bank members taught people how to weave and how to find constellations in the night sky, and the Rocking Ukuleles of Ely showed people how to rock out on ukuleles.

Everyone Health also demonstrated how much sugar there is in certain food items.

A spokesman said: “Fun Palaces create events that bring together arts and sciences – but above all PEOPLE – to work together, create together, have FUN together, and in doing so, build our own communities, from the grassroots up.
