Ely Inner Wheel members and guests lunch at Ely Golf Club to celebrate club’s 70th charter year

Seventy-eight Ely Inner Wheel members and their guests attended a lunch held at Ely Golf Club to celebrate the club’s 70th charter year.
After lunch the ceremony of lighting the candles was performed by Enid Bedford for the past, president Julia Smith for the present, Johanna Partridge for the future and Mary Rone for international.
President Julia then cut a decorated cake which had the Inner Wheel motif on it.
Greetings from Inner Wheel District 8 were given by district chairman Linda Fellas.
The toast to the Inner Wheel club of Ely was given by Richard Tyler, president of Ely Rotary Club and the guest speaker was the Mayor of Ely, Councillor Mike Rouse.

Cllr Rouse spoke of all the items in people’s daily life which are often taken for granted but had not yet been thought of in 1948.
A vote of thanks was given by vice president Susie Sallis.
