Ely’s two rotary clubs have been busy this week for different reasons.

While Ely Hereward Rotary Club held its annual giant Easter egg raffle, raising hundreds in the process, a new member joined the Rotary Club of Ely.

This year’s ‘Win a Giant Easter egg’ raffle - organised by Ely Hereward Rotary Club - raised a cracking £385.30 for local charities and good causes.

The winners were: Jenny Doncaster (The Almonry), Elisabeth Seymour (Ely Fudge Shop), Sue Reeder (Burrows News), Adrian Algar (Sutton Conservative Club), Tina Webb, (Toppers Hairdressers), Phil Hunter (The Albert), Rachel Haynes (Starbucks), Jacquie (Haddenham Galleries) and Mrs Lambert (The Lamb Hotel).

The Hereward Rotary Club would like to thank the local businesses who supported the raffle, and everyone who bought a ticket.

Over at the Rotary Club of Ely the president, Viv Doji, inducted a new member, Richard Maxey, into the club last week.

He is the fifth new member to join the club since last July.

Richard, who is a teacher, is also a member of the Isle of Ely Rowing Club.
