The leader of the Ely Guides for the last 40 years was presented with an award for her long service.
Ann Harris, who started her guiding life with the 3rd Wisbech Guides, received the award from Sheila Otter, who was Ann’s guide leader four decades ago.
Chris Turnbull, of 3rd Ely Guides, said: “Ann has been a guide leader since before many of the current guides’ parents were born.”
“We linked up via FaceTime with Ann’s guiding friends in Wales where she spent 20 years as a leader.
“She was so surprised and delighted to see and speak to them all.
“Ann is not retiring yet though. She is still having fun, but we do need to keep recruiting younger women to lead the next generation.”
As well as the 28 current guides in 3rd Ely unit, some ex-guides who are now in their 20s also attended the presentation.
