An Ely recruitment agency has donated £500 to the city food bank to mark the start of a year of support for the charity.

Jess Harvey-Bowman, of Neaves and Neat, said: “We will be working closely with Ely Foodbank as our chosen charity over the next 12 months.

“To kick-start our partnership, we have donated £500 ahead of Christmas. With it being one of their busiest times of year, this will help referred individuals and families with nutritionally balanced food parcels and other supplies.”

Ely Foodbank is a local charity devoted to fighting poverty and hunger.

Last year, the Foodbank distributed 2,428 emergency food supplies, a total of 45 tonnes of food, to those in crisis in the Ely area.

Cathy Wright, project director at Ely Foodbank, said: “We are thrilled to have this support from Neaves and Neat going into 2019.

“They are a local company who have really grasped an understanding of our work, making it a valuable partnership for us.

“We are looking at new premises for our food storage and this donation is an enormous help.”

Neaves and Neat plan to continue its support with donations, fund raising events and volunteering throughout the year.
