An Ely firm is providing eight wheelchairs for the Lewin Stroke and Rehabilitation Unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital following a fund raising raffle by patients and staff.

In addition a special Invacare wheelchair is being supplied to the hospital thanks to an anonymous donation.

The fund raising raffle raised more than £1,800 and included prize donations provided by local businesses, including a TV from Hughes and some champagne and chocolates from The Cambridge.

The wheelchairs are being supplied and maintained through mobility healthcare company Bartrams.

The anonymous donor means the company is also supplying a multi-adjustable Invacare Rea Azaela passive wheelchair to the unit.

Members of the British Healthcare Trades Association, Bartrams has been providing a wide range of innovative mobility and healthcare products throughout the UK for more than twenty five years.

“We pride ourselves on offering a high quality, bespoke service and having access to this type of specialist equipment is an essential part of a stroke patients’ rehabilitation and recovery.

Therefore, we are naturally delighted to be work with Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) on this local fundraising initiative.” said Naomi Sherwood, mobility centre manager.
