AN escort girl from Ely who launched a frenzied attack on a customer with his own carving knife was jailed for five years and four months on Friday.

Sarah Barker, 27, repeatedly stabbed the married client as he lay on his bed because he reminded her of a man who had abused her.

The punter, referred to only in court as Mr C, was stabbed at least seven times as he lay on his front after having consensual sex with Barker.

He suffered wounds to his back and cuts to his face and an arm. After Barker left, Mr C was able to call for an ambulance. He spent nine days in hospital, Northampton Crown Court heard.

Barker from Geulder Rose, Ely, pleaded guilty to wounding the victim with intent at his home in Northampton on the night of July 14 last year.

Prosecutor Sam Mainds said Barker had been working for the Phoenix Escort Agency for just 10 days when the attack happened. She had sex with Mr C before and was taken to his home by a driver again that night.

Mr C was described as a "brilliant customer" who had used the company for years and was well-liked. He said Barker herself was also described as "a very nice pleasant young girl."

In one account she gave to the police, Barker said Mr C reminded her of a man who had previously abused her. She said: "He reminded me of a man who abused me when I was in foster care. I felt like I wasn't in control, it felt like an out-of-body experience. I didn't intend to kill him."

Defending, John Lloyd-Jones said Barker had been taken into foster care at the age of six because her mother was a heroin addict. "Years of rage that had been previously pent up brewed up and boiled over. It was a blast of rage, it was a quick attack, she did not kill the victim and had she wanted to kill this man she would have had the opportunity. She deeply regrets what happened and she knows why it happened."

Jailing her, Judge Charles Wide QC said: "The victim in this case was entirely vulnerable, at your mercy, quite unaware that he was about to be the victim of a sustained attack with a very serious weapon in the form of this knife.

"Lying on his stomach, his back exposed, you got the knife and you repeatedly stabbed him again and again. There were not less that seven stab wounds.

"He will always bear the scars of what you did to him.
