A police officer, who retired after being accused of theft and computer misuse, has received a suspended sentence. He will also be tagged on curfew.
Former detective constable Matt Bailey, 50, who retired from Cambs Police earlier this year, was given a 16-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, at Lincoln Crown Court today..
Bailey, formerly based at Ely Police Station, admitted the theft of a mobile phone and computer misuse at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court last month.
He received 13 months for computer misuse and three months for theft, to be served consecutively. He was also ordered to complete 300 hours of unpaid work and pay costs of £1000 and compensation of £1070.
Bailey will also be tagged on curfew for four months between 7pm and 7am.
