Ely couple Sandra and Bob Marsh are lighting up Christmas for their neighbours in High Barns by transforming their house into a festive wonderland.

Every Christmas for the last 15 years, the retired couple have been decking their house roof-to-doorstep in hundreds of dazzling lights and decorations and it has become quite an attraction for people around the city.

Sandra, 67, said: “I used to be a childminder and every year we would build up more and more lights for the kids and now I have grandchildren and they and their friends love to see them up.”

As well as outside, several rooms inside the house and a caravan parked outside are also decked out with lights. There are so many lights, that the couple begin putting them up in September.

Sandra added that the couple are always delighted with the reaction they get from passersby and therefore “don’t mind too much” when the electricity bill comes in!
