An Ely couple helped make a dream come true for a brave teenager battling cancer.
Howard and Carol Budge, of Abbots Way, organised a packed week of experiences for 14-year-old Kristyn Farley, who was flown over to the UK by the Make-a-Wish foundation from her home in America.
Howard and Carol are close friends of Kristyn’s parents Jim and Renata and said they jumped at the chance to help out when the family, including Kristyn’s sisters Katelyn and Meghann, announced they were coming to visit.
As part of their stay, the family were given a tour of RAF Lakenheath, where Jim and Renata used to work, before visiting Ely Cathedral and a pub and enjoying a traditional British high tea and Christmas dinner.
And the family were able to get around thanks to Ely company Jolly Good Van Hire, who supplied a vehicle to help them on their visit.
The family also went on a trip to London where they enjoyed the London Eye, Harry Potter Studios and West End show, the Lion King.
Carol said: “They managed to fit in so much in a short space of time but they really enjoyed it. We were so pleased that they were able to come over here and get done what Kristyn wanted to do.”
