The community in Ely came together for the dedication service of the East of England Co-op Funeral Services’ Chapel of Rest on Prickwillow Road last week.
The dedication was led by Reverend Chris Hill, Priest in Charge at St Mary’s Church in Ely. Deputy Mayor of Ely, Richard Hobbs, was also in attendance.
Residents from local care homes, hospices, representatives from charities, neighbours and other members of the funeral profession were all invited and visitors took the opportunity to talk to the local funeral team over tea and cake.
They were also able to chat with the bereavement support counsellors and meet the civil celebrant.
Funeral arranger Claire Needs said: “We’re so proud to offer support to people in Ely when they need it most and it was lovely to see so many friendly faces at the dedication service. We’re looking forward to playing a central role in the community for years to come.”
