Ely College is set to receive nearly £10,000 in funding from the Big Lottery Fund to help students who may have behavioural problems due to a lack of exercise.
The college on Downham Road is to receive £9,990 to kick start a ‘Dodge, Bounce and Gallop Your Way to a Better Life’ project, which aims to combat poor attainment and behavioural issues at the college through engagement and exercise.
The funding will enable the college to provide alternative exercise activities for students who find it difficult to exercise during a normal school day.
Ely’s funding is part of £1.25 million being provided by the Big Lottery Fund, with 43 organisations in the east also set to benefit.
The fund has donated over £8 billion to thousands of projects since its inception in 2004.
