A group of Ely College students have spent their free time over the past few weeks collecting food to donate to the Littleport Food Bank.

Students in Turing House at Ely College have collected an array of food to donate to those in need, from baked beans to cornflakes. The donation was wholly organised by the students and was one of the largest donations the food bank had ever recieved.

Richard Spencer, principal at Ely College, said: “It is heart-warming to see our students voluntarily helping their community and those in need within it. At Ely College, we seek to develop well rounded individuals who are an active part of their communities and these students are a shining example of those values. They should be very proud of what they have achieved.”

The Littleport Food Bank is open between 10am and 12 noon Tuesday and Friday mornings at St George’s Church in Littleport.
