The competition was judged by art professionals and the prizes, sponsored by Tindalls and other local shops and businesses, were presented by Gary Gardner, president of Ely-Hereward Rotary Club, at a special preview for all entrants and their families.

Ely’s students came away with a clutch of awards, including first and second place in the Key Stage 3 category, won by Agatha Zwolinksa and Morgan Brown respectively; third place in the A-Level category, won by Thomas Lomax; and a Hereward Rotary Prize for Freya Neighbour.

The Babylon Gallery is open, free of charge, Tuesday to Sunday, from noon-4pm. Details of the exhibition are available on the ADeC website www.adec.org.uk
