Ely City Women’s Institute president Sarah Mascall welcomed everyone to the fist meeting of the New Year and including three visitors.
She invited the speaker David from Mr Simms sweet shop to present awards for last year’s competitions.
The cookery prize was won by Patricia Canham and the presidents cup for most points awarded overall was won by Carol Weston.
‘Mr Simms’ then gave a very amusing and extremely interesting history of sweets from a selection that he bought with him. He was thanked by Sue Stuart.
Next month on February 12 the speaker will be Jonathan Crisp who will show the group how to make something from recyclable materials.
