The sale of more than 50 Christmas cakes at the Christmas Gift and Food Fair at Ely Cathedral in November raised £1,500 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

Each cake was made and decorated by a group of willing bakers including the Dean, staff and volunteers at the cathedral, the Poets House hotel, Star Radio, the Clandestine Cake Club and the Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire.

Waitrose of Newmarket kindly supplied the ingredients.

Karen Newton, hospice fundraiser said: “I would like to thank all the wonderful people who helped make this happen. The money raised will help EACH continue to care for local children and young people with life-threatening conditions and provide support to their families across Cambridgeshire.”
