Twelve of Ely’s cadets hung up their uniforms to take part in their first of two expeditions as they work towards achieving their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.
1094 (Ely) Squadron this weekend joined their sister Squadron - 1220 (March) - with staff from both Squadron’s combining to supervise the four groups of cadets.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme is open to all young people aged 14-25 and has three levels - bronze, silver and gold.
Each award is split into four sections: Skills and Interests, Physical Recreation, Expeditions and Voluntary Work.
The Gold award has an additional residential project where young people spend a week away in a large group on a joint venture with a common purpose. Those young people who attain their gold award also receive the honour of an invitation to The Palace to receive their award from The Duke of Edinburgh HRH Prince Phillip.
