ELY City boss Denis Lightning is looking to new signings to freshen up his squad for the New Year.

The Robins have been inconsistent of late and with injuries and suspensions mounting Lightning has been looking to the transfer market: "We have got a big enough squad to cope for the moment but I'm always looking to freshen things up and ill be looking at making a few signings before the end of the week," he said.

The signings though have not been forced by a number of recent cancellations and the threat of a fixture pile-up: "I'm not worried about cancelled games because we have played a number of games more than others to be honest, the teams around us might be struggling but we should be ok in the coming weeks."

As for the coming weekend's visit of table-topping Lowestoft, Lightning believes his side are more than up for the challenge: "We have nothing to lose in the game against Lowestoft, they are top of the league with the pressure that brings and we are looking forward to having a real go at them.
