An Ely biker has made it to the final round of the search to find the nation’s biking hero.

Mark Homan was nominated for the Biking Hero award for his work producing the Gauntlet Auto Project for over 20 years. The project is based in Ramsey and oversees off-road training and bike maintenance to young people.

The panel of guest judges have whittled down the nominations and Mark has been announced as a top 10 finalist.

The competition, launched by motorbike insurance broker Carole Nash in partnership with Motorcycle News, is searching for a biker who supports their local community, gets involved with charity work or goes the extra mile, with £2,000 in prize money on offer.

Mark will find out if he has been crowned the UK’s biking hero at the Motorcycle Live show at the NEC in Birmingham on November 18.

Rebecca Donohue, marketing director at Carole Nash said: “The judges certainly had a tough time choosing a top 10, but Mark’s entry particularly stood out. We can’t wait to see who the public think will be the most deserving winner.”
