THE annual charity dance in aid of Cancer Research UK was held at the Ely Beet Sports and Social Club and raised a magnificent £1,024. The event was organised by Frank Bland. He was helped on the night by Sam Crick, Paul Verdon and Alan and Brian. Joanne Coe and Brian Abbs donated money for the hall. They also raised £117 by going round with the teddy bear. Frank would also like to thank Martin Blakeley and his football mates for donating £100 towards the entertainment, which was provided by the Skyliners.
"I would like to thank everyone who supported the evening. Over the last eight years, all who support the event have raised £9246.35," he said.
A cheque for £1,024 was handed over to representatives from Cancer research at the event, and also Jim Brasher's cheque for £500 from the carpet bowls tournament.
