Do you want to be King of the River? Now is the time to plan and build your rafts for the 40th anniversary of Ely Aquafest.

Held on Sunday July 1 and organised as always by the rotary clubs of Ely, a spokesman said: “We would love to have some of the old stars back such as The Outlaws, Whiting & Partners, Shearline; all past winners and a lot of new ones as well.

“There will be prizes for the best decorated and the fastest.

“Some have been very inventive with double-decker buses, tanks and mini-cars, “Others have been ordinary rafts often with a sail and some times they win the race.”

Aquafest 2017, which saw 10,000 people attend the awas hailed as a fantastic day for Ely, with a record number of stalls and some incredible acts.
