A wealth of acting talent across Cambridgeshire has been documented in a book to mark the 130th birthday of Ely Amateur Dramatic Society.
The popular society, which was created in 1888, has put together its first very history book to commemorate the last 13 decades.
‘Putting on A Show Since 1888 - The History of Ely Amateur Dramatic Society’ was launched at a special event at Burrows Bookshop yesterday afternoon (December 9).
Written by Matt Harvey, and compiled and edited by Ann Dix and Tony Ransome, there are only 100 copies of the book available.
Guests spoke of their happy memories of productions across the years over drinks and nibbles with Mayor of Ely Cllr Mike Rouse.
Every year Ely Amateur Dramatic Society aim to put on three productions from a range of different genres and playwrights.
In the last five years, productions have included Hamlet, When We Are Married, Rope, The Tempest, The Vicar of Dibley, The LadyKillers, Much Ado About Nothing and The Importance of Being Earnest.
As a society they are always in need of new members to help with backstage, front of house and set building.
The book is available for £7.99 from Burrows in Ely High Street Passage.
