A nursery in Ely has been rated outstanding by Ofsted for their ‘exceptionally high quality’ of teaching and leadership.

King’s Ely Acremont Nursery, in Egremont Street, was ranked the highest standard across the board in all four areas.

The education watchdog was praised for their leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development and outcomes.

The report stated: “Providers and managers strive for excellence. They regularly review and update their self-evaluation of the nursery and constructively use feedback from staff, parents, children and external professionals. Children were also spoken to and appeared happy to be in a ‘calm and nurturing environment’.

King’s Ely Acremont Nursery opened its provision for two-year-olds in 2014 and for one year-olds in 2015. It is situated within the existing nursery premises.

The nursery employs a total of 19 members of childcare staff, 15 of whom hold appropriate qualifications at level 3 and above.

The nursery provides funded early education for three and four-year-old children. There are currently 93 children on the roll.

The inspection took place on February 21.

King’s Ely Boarding School was also visited by a team of five inspectors from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) on the same day.

They confirmed that the school meets all standards in the schedule to the Education Regulations 2014.

Everything was assessed from the health and welfare of students to the quality of management of the school.
