East Cambs residents make it a merry Christmas for vulnerable kids

KIND-HEARTED East Cambridgeshire residents have helped make sure it will be a merry Christmas for hundreds of vulnerable children this year, as they donated £9,000 worth of toys to charity.
Throughout October and November, customers of catalogue company Kleeneze were asked by their local representative to donate any unwanted toys they had lying around the house to children’s charity Barnardo’s.
The response to the appeal was overwhelming, with hundreds of toys handed over.
Stephen Smith, organiser of the East Anglia appeal, said: “We did it last year and we raised about £3,000 worth but this year it has been even better.
“I just want to say a huge thank you to all the people who have donated to the appeal, it has been absolutely brilliant and I think it is exactly what Christmas is about.”
Mr Smith said the toys would be taken down to Barnardo’s regional headquarters in London in the coming days before they would be handed out to children across the UK.
