A series of photos posted to social media by East Cambs Police about graffiti tagged litter bins and an electricity control box carried the warning not to name and shame the culprits publicly.
“Please do not name anyone you suspect in the public comments below,” was the stark message posted on the Policing in East Cambridgeshire Facebook page.
All three incidents have taken place in Ely and police are keen to find those responsible.
“If you think you can help us to identify the person who is spraying this tag at a variety of locations across Ely, please contact us via a private message, or call 101,” said a police spokesman.
“You can report any information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
The spokesman added: “Sharing this post will help us to reach more viewers. Many thanks for your assistance.”
