East Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s youth consultation panel has received a big cash boost.
The panel, which was created last year with the aim of improving the relationship between the police and young people in the area, has pocketed £1,753 from the Cambridgeshire Community Fund.
The money will go towards new technology for the group, including computers, camera equipment and media software.
Sergeant Phil Priestley, who organises the sessions, said: “This money will help us to share information coming out of the group, and reach out for a broader scale of involvement.
“The panel will be running their own social media channels and will be communicating messages that are intended to invite more people into key conversations.
We can expect to see the acquisition of technology over February, and in March we hope to see the launch of a new source of information that will empower young people throughout the district.”
The panel’s next meeting takes place on Tuesday (7), before it meets the forces Chief Constable in Huntingdon the following week.
