If you happened to pass through the Imperial War Museum in Duxford last week, you would’ve been able to catch Matthew Bourne’s one-off RAF inspired dance.
Bourne’s renowned dance company, New Adventures, are the ones responsible and artists have been working with young male dancers to create the new performance piece.
The dance is inspired by the role of young RAF airmen at Duxford during the Battle of Britain and showed them in physical training, being fitted for their uniforms, servicing aircrafts and scrambling to fight the enemy.
It was performed by Legacy, an all-male dance company for men aged 10-21, with participants from all over East Anglia.
The impromptu event is part of three performances - in London, Manchester and Duxford.
A spokesman said: “The museums came to life with stories and artefacts inspired by the local heritage, all told in New Adventures’ unique narrative style.
“Legacy performed to hundreds of people throughout the day under the aircrafts at the museum, capturing the lives, excitement and drama of the young men sent to serve at the RAF airfield.”
