Two friends who admit to being petrified of heights faced their fears by taking on a tandem skydive.
Beverley Young, 49, from Ely, and Rosalyn Mazey, 46, from Haddenham, took to the skies last Friday at the North London Skydiving Centre, near Chatteris, to leap out of plane from thousands of feat in the air.
The duo carried out the feat to raise funds for and awareness for the charity Action for M.E which offers support and information to people affected by the condition and also campaigns for better public services and more research.
Beverley said: “Doing a tandem skydive was a way of drawing attention to this chronic debilitating illness that seems to baffle the medical profession and is terribly underfunded in research, the cause is unknown and there is no treatment of the illness or cure only management of the symptoms.”
Rosalyn added: “We are both petrified of heights and were shaking with fear, it was a crack pot idea that some how turned into a real challenge, but we feel so pleased now having done it and raised so much money.”
The duo raised £1,000 for the charity.
