DRUG user Lee Wiseman smashed up items in his mother's home after having a row with his girlfriend.

And when his mum tried to call the police, he grabbed her phone and stamped on it, Ely magistrates heard.

Wiseman, 25, of Friars Place, Littleport, admitted destroying a light, a mirror and a phone belonging to Denise Rainford on April 23. He further admitted possessing amphetamine and cannabis on April 11.

Prosecuting, Emma Dmitriev said Wiseman's drug and drink problems had made him a violent and aggressive young man.

On April 23, Wiseman and his girlfriend had argued, and he was "hyper" as he burst through the door of his home, his eyes wide open.

"He shouted and punched some items in the living room," said Mrs Dmitriev. "He punched out the light in the centre of the ceiling.

"The mirror over the fireplace was punched and it cracked. He pulled it down and threw it against the wall, smashing it."

The drugs were found at Wiseman's home when police executed a warrant. Wiseman had spent £200 on amphetamine, which he had bought in bulk, and was expected to last him a fortnight. He also had £5 worth of skunk cannabis, which he used to help him sleep.

Mitigating, Michael Judkins said there had been tensions at home after Wiseman's mother returned to the property after some time away. He had tried to stop using drugs, and had lost his temper after arguing with his girlfriend.

"He did not vent his anger on another person, but on objects in the house," he said.

Sentencing was adjourned until May 15, and Wiseman was given conditional bail.
