SOHAM man Jamie Bramley is facing a driving ban, after lying to police who followed his car into a garage forecourt.
Bramley claimed to have insurance cover - but an officer who got on the phone to the insurance company was told there was no record of Bramley having a policy.
Bramley then told police: "I have lost my job and have got no money."
This week, the 24-year-old of Gadwall Way did not attend court, but was convicted of driving a Vauxhall Cavalier without insurance on the A142 at Soham on June 11 in his absence.
Ely magistrates were told that he already had points endorsed on his licence, and adjourned sentencing until December 20.
