A driver caught travelling at 126 miles per hour on the A14 near Newmarket has been disqualified from driving for five months.

Ian Farrar pleaded guilty to speeding when his case came before South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich.

The 52-year-old was driving at 56mph above the limit on the A14 at Exning, near Newmarket.

At the time Farrar was in a 2014-registered BMW 730D.

The offence occurred shortly before 8.55am on October 15 last year.

In addition to his ban Farrar, of Springfield Road, Rushden, Northamptonshire was also fined £665.

Magistrates also ordered him to pay £85 costs as well as £67 to the victims’ fund.
