A COUPLE celebrated their diamond wedding in style at Lily House in Ely on Monday.
Eric, and Phil Bowden, who are both 83, were delighted to receive a telegram, said their daughter-in-law Lynda who organised the party. Phil is a resident at Lily House and Eric still lives at home in Ely.
"It had more of a personal message in it as it's the Queen and Prince Philip's diamond wedding this year as well," said Lynda.
All the residents at Lily House were included in the party, with staff pitching in to decorate the room. Old colleagues and friends were also transported to the event and 50 people attended.
"It was a great celebration with wine and then, of course, champagne.
"We laid on some party games, a bit of pass-the-parcel, nothing too active so they could do it from their wheelchairs."
The day ended with a sing-song round the pipe organ.
