WILBURTON Beer Festival organisers will be pulling up the total of Liam Fairhurst's charity appeal next weekend when they stage their ninth annual event.

Last year the festival raised more than £30,000 for charity and the organisers will support Liam's fund-raising efforts when they stage their extravaganza on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24.

They are hoping Liam will join Mark Peters of Star FM Radio to open the festival on Saturday afternoon.

The East Anglian Children's Hospice at Milton, which benefited from £4,000 from the festival last year, is also one of the chosen charities this year.

Real ale lovers will find more than 25 brews on offer with weird and wonderful names, including Wots Occurring, Mudpuppy, Malty Towers, Pressed Rat and Warthog.

There will be a variety of bands, including rock, jazz and folk performing over the weekend and an all-day barbecue on both days. Vegetarian food will be available and there will be a non-alcoholic children's cocktail bar.

Wilburton Beer Festival glasses will be on sale and there will be a bouncy castle and face painting among other attractions for younger visitors.

The festival runs from midday till 11.30pm on the Saturday and from midday till 6pm on the Sunday at Wilburton Recreation Ground

Admission is £2.50 for adults and is inclusive of a beer programme. Children can enter for free and free parking is also available. A token system will be in operation for buying drinks.
