DRAMATIC scenes in Ely this morning (Thursday) saw a would-be-burglar arrested after police officers swooped on a house in the city.
Around a dozens officers including PCSOs and dog units were called at 9.30am to reports of a burglary in progress in Broad Street after a resident had returned to find a man in the house.
Police arrived at the scene four minutes after the call and went in pursuit of the man, who witnesses said had fled the scene in the direction of Victoria Street.
After less than 10 minutes of searching, officers arrested a 52-year-old man from Ely who was then taken to Parkside Police Station in Cambridge.
