The Dorset Sponsored Walk - involving staff and students from Ely College to raise money for The Malcolm Whales Foundation – is to take place from August 4 to 8, but more people are needed.

Jack Emery, an associate trustee, who takes part in the walk, said: “As a charity we have a mini crisis.

“We need to attract more volunteers and participants.

“Moving forward, we desperately want to make the walk something the whole community can be part of and proud of.”

For the first time, the walk will be open to adults and students from outside of Ely College.

“We no longer have the support of Ely College so we need students from Witchford, Soham and other surrounding schools, families and local clubs to walk and fundraise for this great cause.

“We also need the support of local businesses to sponsor mini buses and food to allow so that all the money raised can go to the charity and not running the event.
