Churchgoers led two donkeys on a walk through Ely at the weekend, to mark Palm Sunday.

Members of the New Connexions Church walked through Kings Avenue up to the High Barns Community Centre in celebration of the first Palm Sunday, when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.

Church members then stopped for refreshments before Pastor Keith Waters led a sermon based on Matthew 21:1-17 entitled Really: Who is Your King?

A spokesman for the church said: “Keith told us of Jesus being a different kind of king, who knows exactly who he was and who he is, comes with compassion and announcing judgement. “

New Connexions meet on Easter Sunday at 10.30am in St Mary’s School, Ely. All ages welcome.
