A LITTLEPORT woman conquered her fear of flying once and for all recently - by jumping out of a plane 12,000ft above the ground.
Christine Satchwell, 63, of Parsons Lane, Littleport, decided to take part in the sky-dive at RAF Weston-on-the-Green in Oxfordshire after seeing an open invitation in a newsletter about the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis.
"My cousin Rob has MS and it was through him that I got involved," she said.
Mrs Satchwell's husband John said his wife was determined to carry out the jump, despite the fact that she was terrified before her only previous flight more than 15 years ago.
Mrs Satchwell has already raised more than £1,400 for the Chiltern MS Treatment Centre in Aylesbury, but she said her decision to go ahead with the jump was also a personal challenge.
"For quite a few years I have suffered from anxiety and depression," she said, "and so it was to prove to myself that I'm well enough."
She described the experience as "terrific", adding that her instructor was helpful and encouraging.
