An 'horrific' video showing a gang - led by a young girl - chasing, threatening and beating a teenage boy with hockey sticks has gone viral.

The violent footage, which was caught on camera in a field in Newmarket, has been viewed more than 65,000 times since it was shared on social media.

In the expletive-filled footage a teenage boy is seen running away from a gang of youths – several who are wielding hockey sticks as weapons.

After being chased he is punched and kicked to the floor by a young girl.

Despite trying to shield himself from being hit, a small boy then attacks the victim repeatedly with a hockey stick.

The video was passed on to the Facebook page Newmarket Area Neighbourhood Watch Public Notices and was made public on Wednesday.

Alongside the video, the group wrote: “We have been passed this very disturbing video of some horrific violence in our town on a local youth by a gang with weapons.

“Words fail us with this. No child should be subjected to this violence and bullying.”
