DEVELOPER Persimmon Homes has won approval for plans for 159 new homes in Parsons Lane, Littleport, after they were rejected by planners in September.
The scheme includes houses and flats ranging from one bedroom to five bedrooms and 47 will be affordable homes.
There will also be 296 parking spaces and 1.3 hectares of public open space including a play area.
East Cambridgeshire District Council's planning committee members rejected the project because they considered four-storey homes in the scheme were uncharacteristic of the area.
Two letters of objection have been received to the new plans claiming that shops should be included in the development and expressing fears about traffic and parking problems in the village.
Planning committee members approved subject to the successful completion of a Section 106 agreement, drainage and landscaping issues.
