Money from developers will pay for the installation of a lift at the Sessions House in Ely. East Cambridgeshire District Council’s Commercial Services Committee is set to approve spending £119,278 of £130,000 of Section 106 cash, currently held by the council.
Over half the cash - £58,771 - can only be used by Ely City Council for community infrastructure improvements for the benefit of the city.
The city council has applied to the district council for £119,278 to put in a lift at the Sessions House, which they say is “essential to the ongoing use of this community building and City of Ely realising the full potential of this building.”
A report to Wednesday’s (17) committee meeting says officers have assisted the city council in assessing the funding needed for the lift and are satisfied the Section 106 money can be used for the project.
The city council has worked with the Acccess Group to ensure the planned lift meets their requirements and the group has written in support of the application.
