DENNIS and Joyce Heffer of Soham celebrate 60 years of wedded bliss today (March 4, 2010) with an open house party for family and friends.
The couple met in Soham 63 years ago and were married in Soham Congregational Church in 1950. Dennis, 83, and Joyce, 82, set up home in Soham and moved to Middlemere Farm in 1976 until their retirement in 1991 when they moved to a bungalow in Mereside. They have worked together for most of their lives and, says Joyce, "the secret of a long and happy marriage is to always pull together".
The couple have one daughter, Gillian, who is married to Philip Sparrow of Wicken.
Dennis and Joyce have been members of the Fordham Congregational Church for 30 years. In their retirement, the Diamond couple enjoy gardening and photography.
