A DEMOLITION squad moved into Soham last week marking the end of an era for the town.
The Clark and Butcher mill on the Lode was knocked down after more than a hundred years of successful trading. It will make way for a possible 140 new riverside houses but plans are currently on hold to allow for public consoltation.
Forty three jobs were lost when Clark and Butcher management decided to close their feed production operation in 2005. Since then, the buildings have been standing empty but for 116 years.
