JIM Paice MP has been at the forefront of an attack on The Government's decision to close thousands of rural post offices.

The south-east Cambridgeshire MP met Soham sub-postmaster John Trinder and Haddenham sub-postmaster Steve Edwards during a recent rally postmasters' rally at Parliament to discuss the consequences for the county.

"Closures on such a massive scale will have serious implications for the post office network in Cambridgeshire, where 1 in 5 branches have already been lost since 1999," Mr Paice said.

"The closure of another 2,500 post offices nation-wide will inevitably mean more local branches closing their doors - this will be a serious blow to all those people who rely on the post office for a range of services.
