Over 80 people are already in the running for an award in the Ely Hero Awards but with the deadline for nominations looming there is still time to nominate your hero.
Two categories have particularly captured the imaginations: Community Champion and Best Teacher.
At the moment there will be 16 people vying for the title of Community Champion while 15 teachers will battle it out for the Best Teacher Award.
Among the latest nominations this week was one for Best Parent.
Proud daughter Lara Smith has nominated her mum Sue Smith for the award saying: “I am nominating this person because she has been the best mum by supporting me with everything I do and has the best ways to go around difficult situations.
“She is a very caring person and thinks and puts others before herself. My mum has always been there for me through the bad times; when I needed someone there the most and this is why I think she deserves this award.”
Closing date for nominations is Monday (May 15) so don’t delay and put forward your hero today.
